3D Game Design In Detail
Courses run 9:30am - 4:30pm* Mon-Fri
*Winchester venue finishes 5:30pm/3:15pm (Last Day)
Campers can choose between two versions of the course, depending on if they want to concentrate more on artistic design or complex coding:
Creator Version (all ages) - create your own FPS games from scratch using an amazing toolkit of terrains, textures, characters, AI units, weapons and more. Learn how to create engaging levels to make an amazing gaming experience, whilst customising everything from the colour of the grass to the fire and recoil of the weapons.
Developer Version (ages 11+ only) - as well as creating personalised levels, characters and game-play experiences, dive deeper into the code and mechanics behind the game elements, learning the C# programming language to have complete control over every aspect of the game.
On both versions of the course, campers take home all of their files, assets and projects they have made during the course, and they can continue designing and creating more games at home. They will have full access to all of the course material after the camp - there are also lots of other resources available for free online to continue learning.

We only have a Mac at home - can we still use Unity after the course?
Yes! You can download Unity for Mac and PC and their project files from the course will work with both versions.
My child has no experience of game design or coding - can they still attend?
Yes! Our courses cater for all levels, from complete novice to advanced modellers. Our very high ratios (an average of 1 tutor for every 6 campers) allow us to deliver a personalised learning experience for each camper, so everyone gets as much as possible out of their course with us.
Should my child do anything to prepare for the course?
There is no need to do anything to prepare for our courses - no prior knowledge is assumed.
I don't want my child to just sit in front of a screen all day playing games - should I still send them on this course?
This course isn't about playing games - it's about learning how to create them! This includes a wide variety of skills, from learning core coding concepts in C# to animations, effects, music creation and textures - besides, being able to create your own games is much more entertaining (and useful!) than just playing them.
Do they need to choose the developer or creator version before the course starts?
No - they will be able to choose at the start of the first session. At the start of the course, the tutors will explain in more detail what is involved in each course, and show some examples in detail of the kinds of things they will be doing in each. The campers then have a chance to think about which version they want to do whilst doing some icebreaker activities, before getting started on the course material.
Also, if after a few sessions they feel that they made the wrong choice, they can easily swap over to the other version during the course if they want to.
Just left my boys' first Tech Camp. They've been at the Chelsea camp all week doing game design in Unity. They loved it and are thinking of doing the robot making one next year. Really professional and helpful staff. Very happy kids.
